HAL4SDV as OCX 2026

On the 21st-23rd of April, 2026, the HAL4SDV project was presented at OCX Community days in Brussels, Belgium. The Open Community for Automotive (OCA) at OCX 2026 focused on how open source collaboration is transforming the software-defined vehicle ecosystem and enabling a full middleware platform for series vehicle production.
Across three days, the track moved from orchestration and operating system design to safety, cybersecurity, and real-world deployment. The discussions stayed grounded in implementation, following the mantra of “code-first.” The question was not what SDV could become, but how current systems are being built, integrated, and maintained in a sustainable manner.
At the event, our team members: the coordinator Andreas Eckel (TTTech), Sara Gallian (Eclipse Foundation), Mario Driussi (Virtual Vehicle Research GmbH), Dr. Pascal Hirmer (Mercedes-Benz AG), and Ansgar Radermacher (CEA) had a fantastic opportunity to connect with the growing Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) community.
In addition, HAL4SDV partners contributed to the speeches:
Dr. Pascal Hirmer delivered presentation on: openDuT: The Open-Source Revolution for Distributed ECU Testing.
Ansgar Radermacher gave a speech about AI assistance and CEA modelling tools.
Mario Driussi shared results in the presentation: From Fragmentation to Reference: The FEDERATE OSS Catalog for Building Blocks &CRIIP as next step.
OCX26 brought together visionaries, developers, and decision-makers to explore how open-source collaboration is reshaping the automotive and mobility ecosystem. It provided a valuable space to discover the technologies, standards, and partnerships driving safe, sustainable, and scalable innovation in software-defined vehicles!
The event highlighted how open-source collaboration is transforming the software-defined vehicle ecosystem, enabling a full middleware platform for series vehicle production.
